This Toshiba model offers a great picture and build quality at a fantastic price. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles that more expensive models have.
But their extra features are of no benefit to many buyers. Here are 3 potentially useless features:
A Picture in a Picture
This allows a second program to be viewed in a small window. Some will allow you to resize it, move it around, or create still images..
The Secret - If, like many, you use an external tuner such as a cable box or satellite receiver you usually can only watch one program at any one time. Although, if some of your channels are unscrambled or you have inputs from a DVD player or VHS player, you will be able watch those in the second window, any scrambled channels will not able to be viewed.
Universal Remote Control
Lots of TVs now come with a universal remote that can control other audio visual equipment.
The Secret - Not all can control everything. Some types, called unibrand, can only control equipment made by the same manufacturer as the TV. Also,, most are pre-programmed with codes, but only for newer models. It may well not work with any of your older models, as many don’t have any learning modes, or ability to add in new equipment.
Channel Information
Favorite channel lists, channel surfing modes and other features can make choosing and switching channels much easier.
The Secret - Most people use an external tuner in a cable or satellite digi box to switch stations. If so, all these features serve no purpose at all as you won’t be able to access them
